Best Coffee Shops in Denver For Working

The New Why team is 100% remote. Although many of us are based in Denver, Colorado our remote status allows us to work with clients all over the country to provide web development, social media management, online ads, and Google Grants support.

Although, working from home is great (I love it, but I get that it’s not for everyone) sometimes I like to switch it up. One of my favorite places to work is at coffee shops. Denver has an amazing coffee scene so there’s a lot to love about working at a coffee shop. Craft coffee. Check. Free WiFi. Check. Good vibes? Always. It’s Denver, after all!

Here are some of our favorite coffee shops in Denver for when need to get some work done or just need a change of pace:

Steam Espresso Bar

South Pearl: 1801 S. Pearl Street, Denver
The Highlands: 3600 Tejon St., Denver

Steam is a craft espresso shop so you’re going to get some REALLY good coffee. The owners and baristas take pulling a great shot seriously and their latte art is ::Chef’s Kiss::. They don’t have many outlets so make sure your laptop battery is fully charged before you head over. Other than that, its chill vibe makes it perfect for working and they have a great patio that you can also work on when the weather is nice.

Queensbury Rules Coffee

LOHI: 3408 Navajo Street, Denver

Formerly Black Eye Coffee, Queensbury Rules is located in LOHI. Don’t let the funky name fool ya, Queensbury Rules is a great place to work. They have a good amount of seating, outlets, and a few chairs outside if that’s your thing. Most of their coffee is sourced locally from Huckleberry Roasters (just down the street!). One of my favorite things about Queensbury Rules is their avocado toast. I know, I know –  how basic of me – but it’s THAT good! Check it out next time you’re in LOHI. Also, here’s what’s up with the name here and here.

The Molecule Effect

Washington Park: 300 S Logan Street, Ste 101, Denver
Santa Fe Art District: 1201 Santa Fe Drive, Ste A, Denver

The Molecule Effect is part wine bar, part art bar, part cafe, and a whole lot of fun.  The Molecule Effect opened in 2014 with the goal to have a space where chemistry could be created – not just with drinks but between people, and the community.  With two locations, one in Wash Park and the other in Santa Fe, their goals have been met. The Molecule Effect offers distinctive drinks both of the caffeinated and alcoholic varieties. Start the day getting some work done, and stay for happy hour, trivia, or drag bingo.

Bardo Coffee House

Wheat Ridge: 6150 W 38th Ave, Wheat Ridge
South Broadway: 238 S Broadway, Denver
Lakewood: 3333 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood

Bardo has multiple locations and although I haven’t been to the one in Lakewood yet, I can’t say enough good things about the South Broadway and Wheat Ridge locations. All of the locations are open pretty late – I’m talking 6 am to midnight for South Broadway and Wheat Ridge (10 pm for Lakewood) and they all have free WiFi, free parking, and color laser printers available! Yes, a printer at a coffee shop. Need I say more? You can also get great food from local makers like Handcraft Bakery, Leroy’s Bagels, and City Bakery. Their breakfast burritos are made in-house and they are absolutely delicious. And if Bardo wasn’t great enough, they also get their power from Xcel Energy’s Windsource program. From their website: “When you charge, surf, read, cool-off or warm-up, that too, is wind power.” How cool is that!?!?

St. Marks Coffee House

Uptown: 2019 E 17th Ave, Denver

St. Mark’s is like the Cheers of Denver – but a coffee shop (they also serve beer though!). It’s an old staple that hasn’t changed much over the years. It’s probably the least “chic” of the coffee shops on this list, but if you’re looking for a no-frills place to work, St. Mark’s Coffee House fits the bill.  Their drinks are run-of-the-mill simple coffee drinks – nothing too exotic. But their cookies are to die for. All of their pastries are made in-house and they have sandwiches and bagels if you need something heartier.

Have something to say?
